SUMMER AT EVENSONG 2010
INDIVIDUAL PRIVATE RETREATS DURING SUMMER
As many of our regular retreatants know, Evensong Retreat Center has been operating for eight years now, usually from October 1st through May of every year. During the summer months Evensong operates as Allen Harbor Breeze Inn & Gardens. It is the income from our operation as an Inn that helps to fund our ministry as a retreat center.
This year, for the second summer, we are open to the possibility of hosting individuals seeking a private individual retreat during the summer months for those individuals willing to abide by our summer parameters. These are as follows:
- We continue to require the income that the summer months generate in order to fund our year round ministry. The rate for a personal private retreatant from June through September will be at the low end of our Inn rate, ranging from $125 in midweek June and September to $160 from late June to early September. This is for a queen size room for an individual or couple on retreat, based on availability.
- Breakfast is the only meal served during the summer; retreatants are on their own for other meals. There are numerous restaurants in close proximity, from fast food to fine dining.
- Since the Inn is in normal operation welcoming guests (including children), we cannot guarantee the same atmosphere of silence as during the normal retreat season; however, we are known as a peaceful setting even during the summer months. In addition, the chapel and labyrinth area will be available to retreatants and quiet is maintained on those parts of the property.
- There are some advantages to a summer retreat: our pool is available; our gardens are at their most beautiful; warm beaches are nearby; and many summer activities are available for those who wish to partake, from biking/hiking trails to whale watching and the natural beauty of the summer Cape.
.If you would like to schedule a summer retreat at Evensong please contact us at 508-432-0027.

FIRST
DEGREE REIKI TRAINING
With Reiki Master Marie
David
Saturday, September 26, 2010, 10am - 4pm
Sunday, September 27, 2010, 1pm - 4pm
Reiki (pronounced
"Ray-Kee") is an ancient healing art rediscovered in
the 19th Century by Dr. Mikao Usui. Reiki literally translates
to "God's (Rei) Energy (Ki)." Christians might relate
to it as the Holy Spirit or the healing power of God and will
recognize the human touch involved in the laying on of hands used
in some of the Christian Sacraments. The Reiki Practitioner is
one who has been trained and attuned to serve as a means of transfer
for this energy or life force. The Art of Reiki teaches that this
life force is all around us, and that it has the power to heal.
In a healthy state
the flow of energy through the body is even and balanced. Illness
or stress can cause the energy flow to become unbalanced or blocked.
Reiki helps to reinstate the balanced flow of energy in the body.
During a Reiki treatment the Reiki Practitioner will gently lay
his or her hands on specific points of the recipient's body
First Degree Reiki
Training enables you to channel Reiki energy to yourself and others
to promote balance and harmony to the body, mind, and spirit.
Reiki energy helps reduce stress, brings comfort and calm, and
accelerates the body's natural healing process.
Commuter rate
is $175.

Discovering Love: A Retreat for Abused Women
March 25 -27, 2011
Director: Nicole Sotelo

Give yourself a weekend away to focus on discovering love in its many contexts: love for oneself, the world and God. Experiences of abuse break the bonds of trust and may create unhealthy patterns in the way we relate to ourselves and others. This retreat explores the three stages of healing from abuse through the lens of God’s love. The weekend offers women the space to explore their healing journey in a safe, spiritual setting through the use of art, music, meditation and other healing modalities. There is quiet time during the weekend to rest in your beautiful private room at the center, stroll by the beach or walk the labyrinth by the chapel. Space is limited so register today by contacting Evensong Retreat Center.
This popular retreat is being presented for the third year in a row and we hope to have some scholarship openings (please contact us for details). Join Nicole Sotelo,
author of Women Healing from Abuse: Meditations for Finding
Peace (Paulist Press, November 2006), as she leads participants
on this weekend. The retreat begins on Friday Evening and ends
on Sunday after lunch.
