FIRST DEGREE REIKI TRAINING
With Reiki Master Marie David
Saturday, March 13, 2010, 10am - 4pm
Sunday, March 14, 2010, 1pm - 4pm

Reiki (pronounced "Ray-Kee") is an ancient healing art rediscovered in the 19th Century by Dr. Mikao Usui. Reiki literally translates to "God's (Rei) Energy (Ki)." Christians might relate to it as the Holy Spirit or the healing power of God and will recognize the human touch involved in the laying on of hands used in some of the Christian Sacraments. The Reiki Practitioner is one who has been trained and attuned to serve as a means of transfer for this energy or life force. The Art of Reiki teaches that this life force is all around us, and that it has the power to heal.

In a healthy state the flow of energy through the body is even and balanced. Illness or stress can cause the energy flow to become unbalanced or blocked. Reiki helps to reinstate the balanced flow of energy in the body. During a Reiki treatment the Reiki Practitioner will gently lay his or her hands on specific points of the recipient's body

First Degree Reiki Training enables you to channel Reiki energy to yourself and others to promote balance and harmony to the body, mind, and spirit. Reiki energy helps reduce stress, brings comfort and calm, and accelerates the body's natural healing process.

Commuter rate is $175.

Guided One-Day Lenten Retreat :
NAVIGATING LIFE'S TRANSITIONS
March 13, 2010, 9:00a.m. - 5:00p.m.
Director: Gayle Kerr, MA

Gayle Kerr

For everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven.
Ecc. 3:1

In Ecclesiastes we learn there is a time and a season for everything.  What time is it in your life right now?  Is anything in your life changing?  Life is filled with beginnings and endings and awkward times in between.  How can we give thanks for all that has been, say yes to all that shall be, and find God’s grace to sustain us in the time in between?
Throughout this weekend we will be exploring the transition process through discussion and small group sharing, with time for personal meditation and reflection.  You will be invited to spend time considering  your sense of self and of God- with- you as you seek to navigate whatever changes are occurring in your life.

Fee: $125 per person includes lunch

A LENTEN WEEKEND WITH AUTHOR NICOLE SOTELO:
Discovering Love: A Retreat for Abused Women

March 19-21, 2010
Director: Nicole Sotelo

Nicole SoteloWomen Healing From Abuse - Book
Give yourself a weekend away to focus on discovering love in its many contexts: love for oneself, the world and God. Experiences of abuse break the bonds of trust and may create unhealthy patterns in the way we relate to ourselves and others. This retreat explores the three stages of healing from abuse through the lens of God’s love. The weekend offers women the space to explore their healing journey in a safe, spiritual setting through the use of art, music, meditation and other healing modalities. There is quiet time during the weekend to rest in your beautiful private room at the center, stroll by the beach or walk the labyrinth by the chapel. Space is limited so register today by contacting Evensong Retreat Center.

This popular retreat is being presented for the third year in a row and we hope to have some scholarship openings (please contact us for details). Join Nicole Sotelo, author of Women Healing from Abuse: Meditations for Finding Peace (Paulist Press, November 2006), as she leads participants on this weekend. The retreat begins on Friday Evening and ends on Sunday after lunch.

PRAYER BEYOND WORDS

9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
A Day Retreat with
Rev. Marie David and Artist Bernadette Waystack

Bernadette Waystack Marie David

There are many prayers throughout religious traditions that support our relationship with God.  However, when there are no words to express the prayer of our souls, the gift of artistic expression can assist us in communicating the depth of our experience.   Prayer Beyond Words is a daylong opportunity to connect with the voice of one’s soul through the exploration of a variety of artistic mediums including pastels, watercolor, clay and fabric facilitated by artist Bernadette Waystack.  In the morning Marie David will share her experience of how watercolors assisted her in giving voice to the unresolved grief in the loss of her grandmother many years ago.  No artistic experience or training is necessary to give voice to your soul’s prayer, only the desire to listen.

Fee: $135 per person includes materials and lunch

SUMMER AT EVENSONG 2010

INDIVIDUAL PRIVATE RETREATS DURING SUMMER
As many of our regular retreatants know, Evensong Retreat Center has been operating for eight years now, usually from October 1st through May of every year. During the summer months Evensong operates as Allen Harbor Breeze Inn & Gardens. It is the income from our operation as an Inn that helps to fund our ministry as a retreat center.

This year, for the first time, we are open to the possibility of hosting individuals seeking a private individual retreat during the summer months for those individuals willing to abide by our summer parameters. These are as follows:

  • We continue to require the income that the summer months generate in order to fund our year round ministry. The rate for a personal private retreatant from June through September will be at the low end of our Inn rate, ranging from $125 in midweek June and September to $160 from late June to early September. This is for a queen size room for an individual or couple on retreat, based on availability.
  • Breakfast is the only meal served during the summer; retreatants are on their own for other meals. There are numerous restaurants in close proximity, from fast food to fine dining.
  • Since the Inn is in normal operation welcoming guests (including children), we cannot guarantee the same atmosphere of silence as during the normal retreat season; however, we are known as a peaceful setting even during the summer months. In addition, the chapel and labyrinth area will be available to retreatants and quiet is maintained on those parts of the property.
  • There are some advantages to a summer retreat: our pool is available; our gardens are at their most beautiful; warm beaches are nearby; and many summer activities are available for those who wish to partake, from biking/hiking trails to whale watching and the natural beauty of the summer Cape.

.If you would like to schedule a summer retreat at Evensong please contact us at 508-432-0027.

TREAT YOURSELF OR YOUR FAMILY TO A QUINTESSENTIAL BED AND BREAKFAST EXPERIENCE!

As many of you know, Evensong operatees as Allen Harbor Breeze Inn & Gardens during the summer months to help subsidize expenses. We offer a wonderful Bed and Breakfast experience in the same beautiful and tranquil setting - a perfect place for an individual, couple or family to get away and enjoy a vacation in a Christian atmosphere. Our chapel and labyrinth are available and designated as quiet space. We are close to beaches and numerous fun activities. To learn more visit our sister website: www.harborbreezeinn.com!
