FIRST DEGREE REIKI TRAINING

Reiki (pronounced "Ray-Kee") is an ancient healing art rediscovered in the 19th Century by Dr. Mikao Usui. Reiki literally translates to "God's (Rei) Energy (Ki)." Christians might relate to it as the Holy Spirit or the healing power of God and will recognize the human touch involved in the laying on of hands used in some of the Christian Sacraments. The Reiki Practitioner is one who has been trained and attuned to serve as a means of transfer for this energy or life force. The Art of Reiki teaches that this life force is all around us, and that it has the power to heal.

In a healthy state the flow of energy through the body is even and balanced. Illness or stress can cause the energy flow to become unbalanced or blocked. Reiki helps to reinstate the balanced flow of energy in the body. During a Reiki treatment the Reiki Practitioner will gently lay his or her hands on specific points of the recipient's body

First Degree Reiki Training enables you to channel Reiki energy to yourself and others to promote balance and harmony to the body, mind, and spirit. Reiki energy helps reduce stress, brings comfort and calm, and accelerates the body's natural healing process.

A Retreat for Pastors and Liturgists:

WORDS THAT MATTER: A POETRY AND LITURGY WORKSHOP
October 22 - 24, 2009
Director: Poet Ann Weems

The words we use in worship matter, so make them count! You are invited to a workshop October 22-24 for pastors and liturgists featuring poety Ann Weems. The even will include a number of writing workshops centered on poetry and liturgy, but will also include a poetry slam and a musicl jam session and most of all, time to muse with other poets. So bring your pen and paper, pack up your guitar or recorder, and come on down to the Cape!

Lodging for this retreat will be provided at Evensong Retreat Center. The retreat sessions will take place at St. Peter Lutheran Church. Third Degree Reiki Training provides the Reiki Practioner the opportunity to gain knowledge and attunement in spiritual healing, bringing wellness to body, mind, and spirit. This wholistic approach towards wellness and healing is the focus of Reiki practice issues as well as personal wellness and growth. Following a clinical model participants will engage in case studies, sharing their personal Reiki journey, and discussion regarding hands-on experience. The training also includes presentations on expanded Reiki techniques.

Prerequisite: Must have completed Second
Reiki Training at least six months prior.

Advent is a season of expectation and quiet. Daylight ebbs and darkness enfolds us early and at length with the opportunity for stillness and silence. If we listen carefully to the silence we discover the depth of the possiblities within. Our souls whisper of all that God means to bring about in our lives and in our world. Gather with retreat director Rev. Jim David as he guides retreatants in a gentle exploration of Advent themes. Using Scripture, guided meditation and poetry we will enter into the fertile ground of God's wonder within.

Fee: $310 per person (includes room and 3 meals on Sat. and Brkfst on Sun; state & local room tax not included)

In Ecclesiastes we learn there is a time and a season for everything.  What time is it in your life right now?  Is anything in your life changing?  Life is filled with beginnings and endings and awkward times in between.  How can we give thanks for all that has been, say yes to all that shall be, and find God’s grace to sustain us in the time in between?   
Throughout this weekend we will be exploring the transition process through discussion and small group sharing, with time for personal meditation and reflection.  You will be invited to spend time considering  your sense of self and of God- with- you as you seek to navigate whatever changes are occurring in your life.

A LENTEN WEEKEND WITH AUTHOR NICOLE SOTELO:
GO IN PEACE: A RETREAT FOR
CHRISTIAN WOMEN HEALING FROM ABUSE
March 19-21, 2009

"Go in Peace" is a retreat for Christian women who have experienced abuse and seek a holistic healing path that integrates body, mind and spirit. Today, it is estimated that at least one-third of women experience emotional, physical and/or sexual abuse at some point in their lives; yet abuse is rarely discussed by religious communities. This weekend will offer women the space to explore their own healing journey in a safe, spiritual setting through the use of meditation, music, art and other healing practices. By the end of the weekend, retreat participants will have learned a variety of healing methods and will have been given resources to take home so that they may integrate healing into their daily lives.

 

This popular retreat is being presented for the third year in a row and we hope to have some scholarship openings (please contact us for details). Join Nicole Sotelo, author of Women Healing from Abuse: Meditations for Finding Peace (Paulist Press, November 2006), as she leads participants on this weekend. The retreat begins on Friday Evening and ends on Sunday after lunch.

Fee: $310 per person

HOLY WEEK AT EVENSONG:
THE TRIDUUM EXPRIENCE

Begins at 7:00pm on Holy Thursday and ends with the Easter Vigil at 8:00pm on Saturday

Come enjoy the Springtime Easter beauty of Cape Cod and join Evensong by the Sea's community as they celebrate the solemn services of Holy Week. All are welcome to participate in celebrating the Triduum Liturgy: The Liturgy of The Lord's Supper on Holy Thursday, The Liturgy of the Lord's Passion on Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday. The Triduum will be celebrated in Evensong's Chapel of St. Mary Magdala. If you are a local resident join us at the scheduled times. If you would like overnight accommodations contact us and we can provide private room with three meals for $125 per night. Liturgy of the Hours and an atmosphere of silence will supplement the services. The silence will invite guests to enter into the depth of the Easter mystery at work in our world, our church, and our own souls.
