Ministry of Sacristan

INSTRUCTIONS AND CHECKLIST
Sacristans should arrive no later than 15 minutes prior to the start of Mass. 
                Before Mass

• Place on Credence Table:
• 2 chalices
• 1 paten
• The Sacramentary
• Small pitcher of water
• 1 corporal
• 2 purificators
• Place on Gifts Table:
• Paten with 1 host (the unleavened flat bread)
• Cruet with some wine
• Turn on the 6 spot lights (switches in the entrance hallway)
• Plug in the light in the fountain
• Put hymn board in place
• Put Book of Gospels  in its stand on the Altar
• Turn on the main chapel lights (switches over the credence table)
• Make sure the lectionary is set to the proper readings
• At ten minutes before the start of Mass light the candles near the Altar and the Ambo

After Mass

• Extinguish candles asap (with so many people moving around its dangerous to wait)
• Reverently consume any left over Eucharist and purify the vessels
• Put all of the Mass items away
• Chalices, patens, pitchers, hymn board, Book of Gospels and holder,Sacramentary
• Turn off all lights
• Unplug the light in the fountain
