COMMON PRAYER Evensong Directors Marie & Jim David live at the retreat center and offer a regular schedule of Liturgy of the Hours and Eucharist in which retreatants may choose to participate. Guest Directors are regularly invited and listed on the Retreat Schedule.
GUIDED WEEKEND RETREATS Guided Retreats are held from Friday Evening through Sunday Afternoon for groups no larger than 20 people. Retreatants are invited to participate in the Center's regular schedule of prayer and meals. Retreatants attend a series of talks or reflections given by the Retreat Leader(s). Guided retreats usually involve some periods of discussion as well as some periods of common silence.
FIVE DAY RETREATS These scheduled retreats take place for groups no larger than nine people. The extended time allows guests to enter into a quiet, more reflective rhythm, within which the intimacy to which God calls us can be rediscovered and renewed . The retreat begins on Monday at 2:00pm and concludes with lunch on Saturday. Retreatants are invited to participate in the Center's regular schedule of prayer and meals. Silence is observed throughout the five days. Spiritual Direction by Evensong staff is included for those who wish. A modest additional fee is charged for Spiritual Direction with guest directors.
EIGHT DAY & THIRTY
DAY RETREATS These more formal directed
retreats may be scheduled for individuals by appointment. They
are also occasionally offered on specific dates - see our schedule
to see if any are upcoming. Prior retreat experience is a prerequisite
for those wishing to participate in an eight or thirty day retreat.
Retreatants may choose to engage a traditional Ignatian approach
or a less structured approach unfolding along a Franciscan theme.
A thirty minute daily meeting with a retreat director is included
in these silent retreats. Please contact Evensong for further
information and fees.
INDIVIDUAL
RETREATS Most
weekdays and weekends are available to individuals who wish to
make a private retreat. Retreatants may join the the Center's
regular schedule of prayer and meals, or they may pray and dine
privately. Spiritual Direction is available for those who wish.
The fee for individual retreats is $100 per night; a minimum of
2 nights stay is required. [Spiritual Direction is available at
a fee of $25 per session, payable to the Spiritual Director; please
alert us on your registration form if you wish to make arrangements
for Spiritual Direction.]

REIKI: THE ANCIENT ART OF SELF-HEALING
Reiki (pronounced
"Ray-Kee") is an ancient healing art reintroduced to
the West in the 19th Century by a Christian Monk, Dr. Mikao Usui.
Reiki literally translates to "God's (Rei) Energy (Ki). In
our day and age the concept of this energy, central to most major
religions, is known by a variety of terms. Christians might relate
to it as the Holy Spirit or the healing power of God and will
recognize the human touch involved in the laying on of hands used
in some of the Christian Sacraments.
The Reiki Practitioner is one who has been trained and attuned
to serve as a means of transfer for this energy or life force
for the benefit of self and others. Both Marie and Jim David are
Reiki Practitioners. Marie is a Reiki Master able to offer training
in the art. Courses in Reiki training and certification are offered
periodically at Evensong - please call for schedules.
